Poems for You
Listen to the Waters of the Bayou Sing
Take the well-worn path past Muscadine vines.
Walk along a leveed bank where the bayou flows.
See the cypress tree, standing all alone,
in the middle of a tow bar, on a...
Therapy
A North wind stirs the waters
on the shore of a dark green bay.
Inbound waves wear whitecaps
on a late November day.
On this stretch of beach deserted,
left alone with the wind that sighs.
Long rollers march...
Loved Beyond Measure
We are all borne, at least once, through events beyond us.
Should you allow us to see your worst failures, we promise not...
The Two of Them
Wise and witty, she owns a golden crown.
Her stilled, stone relief prays faithfully,
loosely holding rusty keys to his hidden heart.
She kneels nearby and waits for him alone,
As sweet love...
This Is the Nature of Grief
I draw with a blood-soaked finger
unsure of myself and weary
of my crusading
internal battles
while cohorts rage
year in and year out.
Struggles and loss are
surreptitiously conjured.

Grief and Her Three Sisters
To let go of the past and present circumstances that cause us grief, we must first come to terms with our place in the universe.

In Jerry Lovelady’s latest poetry collection, Grief and Her Three Sisters, he explores the sweet sadness of grieving and feeling the full weight of our regrets. His poems illustrate how grief contains beneficial tools for solving the complex problems associated with living. If poetry can truly heal the soul with its wit, its wisdom and its imagery, this book does it all.
These poignant passages reveal our secret longings and regrets which guide our near escapes into the fond memories of our pleasant past. Lovelady’s poetry engages the reader with a subtle spiritualism that is laced throughout this collection, chocked full of remarkable, insightful life’s lessons.
The Wasted Space Between Your Ears
This book of poetry is eclectic in nature, though it adheres to elements of classical poetry in some of its titles with rhyme, stanzas that are appropriately divided, etc. But the poetry is more about illusions that the nature of Reality serves up to us day to day.

Illusions which we attempt to adhere to in order to be successful in life. The fast pace at which Reality pushes us can most of the time cause us to miss seeing things which might or might not be important to us, yet they, nonetheless exist whether or not we want to acknowledge them. Poems like “Squander the Day” and “Waste the Day”, as well as “Slothful Miscreants” invite us to put away our troubles for a little while and appreciate what we have, to not get so caught up in the day to day issues we all have to deal with.
Also the pace of reality is challenged in the work “Life Goes Rushing By”. The author makes the point that Reality trots us along at a pace that prevents us from seeing much of what we are passing along the way, and he encourages us to slow down, take our time and view the world differently.
There are many love poems in this collection which anyone who has truly been in love can appreciate. “Icing On the Cake”, “Standing at Her Mirror 2”, and “First Date” represent but a few very personal titles. Intimacy is also embraced time and again in poems such as “Just Ask Me”, “The Longing”, “Loved Beyond Measure”, and “We Two”.
Also mingle in are some social commentary current today. “”For the Dreamers Everywhere” and “Street Corner World” relate the predicaments of our poorest and least understood members of society, and the challenges they face. “”For the Undead Americans” and “The Tired Conscience of America” speaks of our lack of political will to address the current problems of drug addiction and immigration. “America the Spoiled” confronts us with the environmental crisis we in America have created and continue to ignore.
All in all, there are many good poems here to peruse and appreciate on many subjects, some of which we take for granted, and others we have never considered. All have a way of getting our attention and providing us with a brief respite from our dull, repetitive lives.
Other Worlds. in Other Words
Other Worlds, in Other Words is written in four sections, all of which deal with our perception of reality, our place in the natural scheme of things, and how mankind and Nature see things very differently. It also poses the long proposed belief that what we experience on a day to day basis may not be all there is going on at any given time.

The book is divided in four sections, the first dealing mostly with the past and how events then and now continue to shape our futures.
The second section is an observation of how recreation and pleasure pay a vital part in mankind’s happiness throughout history and should be pursued at all costs for us to be truly happy.
The third section deals with the power of Love to shape events in a universe shared by mankind obsessed with his own issues and Nature in love with each and every part of a timeless, but changing world.
The fourth section relates the inadequacy of human beings to accept the view of reality we are offered, instead replacing that perception with more convenient or expedient ideas of what we encounter in reality to serve our emotional and political needs.
The book also might be considered a collection of eclectic points of view about the world we live in and what may also be happening in other dimensions set mere microseconds away from this one.
