About the Author

Jerry Lovelady is a poet, husband, and grandfather who lives in Beaumont, Texas.
A graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont, he is retired from a long career with a large petrochemical manufacturing company. Although he began writing poetry in 1992, he did not become serious about publishing his poetry until 2019. Well-traveled, and attentive to the world around him, Lovelady draws from a deep well of life’s experiences that have sharpened his awareness of the harsh conditions many people face, giving him an abundance of material to write about. His writing is driven by a passionate concern for those experiencing social inequality, class struggle, and racial disparities in the United States and beyond.
